Hints and Tips for using the NCEA/CACE Smart Moves Café Board
This Interactive Board is for the use of Catholic School Superintendents and is being announced only to them.
Registering:
You must be a registered participant in order to contribute to the discussion. The topics and postings can be read by anyone who arrives at the site, without logging in.
The name you pick when registering will be displayed next to any posting you make. Please use something that will be recognizable to your peers, ex. JimMcDaniel
Name and password are case sensitive.
Posting:
A message is not posted until you click ‘Submit’ at the bottom of the screen. Take advantage of Preview if you are using special formatting. The preview (your text as it will be displayed) will be located ABOVE the editing field on the preview screen. You can edit or delete your posts, but no one else’s.
A draft posting can be saved for your use by clicking ‘Save’. It will not be visible to anyone else. Retrieve it via the User Control Panel – Manage Drafts, and click ‘Submit’ when it is ready for posting.
Use the discussion itself to ask for clarification of the content of an earlier posting. This is designed for professional discussion
Navigation of the site:
If the back arrow gives you a ‘timeout’ or other error message, use the forward arrow to return to a good screen, then click on the place you want to go. In some cases, you will be able to select Retry which will refresh the page. There is no need to exit the software and start over.
Who’s who:
People participating in the discussion should all be CACE members at the Vicar or Superintendent level.
The Board administrator will recommend deletion of users and postings which do not seem to be appropriate to the site.
HELP:
The FAQ section provided by the software is helpful and the more time you spend with it, the better your experience will be – the first screen has a good list of topics in categories. So, start there if something is mysterious.
If you encounter difficulties which you or your diocesan technical office cannot resolve OR if you discover inappropriate content, please contact CACE, cace@ncea.org.
Remember, use the discussion board to its maximum to clarify postings. Others will benefit from all professional discussions and interaction.
