Using the Job Bank
(work on this page is not yet complete and relies on user input)
Q: I have never used the job bank before, what do I do?
A: The NCEA Job Bank is a free service for its membership and is intended
only for the posting of positions available in Catholic institutions or for posting a
resume where the individual is seeking employment in Catholic Education. The instructions
that follow are for either circumstance; the fee for non-members is $100 per posting for
an available position; posting of resumes is free to all. Here is what you should do -
Q: Are there mistakes I should avoid?
A: Yes, some of the common ones are -
Selecting the incorrect Job Category so that a Job Offered shows up in the Job Desired section of the Job Bank.
Failing to record username and password. If you recall one but not the other, the program offers you a lookup capability so long as your email address has not changed.
Failing to accurately portray the position as having religious preference. This is an employment law issue and you should involve your human resources office if you are unsure of the correct entry.
Completing a field for a Job Desired announcement when offering a job.
Failing to select the proper Caption Header and entering the caption in the following field. Doing so allows you to be more specific to job title, etc.
Failing to select an AD DURATION appropriate to the cutoff date for your receiving resumes for consideration. You may select the duration for your ad appearing in the Job Bank in 30-day increments out to 240 days. As an example, if you will stop accepting resumes 75 days from the date you post the ad, select an ad duration of 90 days and it will expire automatically in two weeks. Alternatively, you may return and delete the ad on the 75th day.
Clicking the PREVIE MY AD button and assuming that posts your ad to the database. It does not, you must scroll to the bottom of the preview screen and click the SUBMIT AD button to make the data visible.
While not a mistake per se, if a user does nothing in the job bank for a 240-day period, the program automatically deletes the user from the system. If this happens and you need to post a position the following year, all you need do is re-register to post your new ad.
